IVINS – Ivins Police arrested a woman Monday for felony drug possession after serving a search warrant for drugs at her residence, located at the 100 West 300 South block in Ivins.
Dorthea Dawn Ashmore, 33, was arrested and charged with two second-degree felonies for drug possession, one third-degree felony for drug distribution, and one class-A misdemeanor for drug paraphernalia.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Ivins City Police Officer Todd O’Bray in connection with the arrest, during the search of Ashmore’s home, officers located methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia. A NIK test was performed for the positive identification of both drugs.
A juvenile and Ashmore’s 2-year-old child were both located in the home during the search.
Ashmore’s drug-related charges were enhanced because of the juvenile in the home and for being in a drug-free zone – Ashmore’s residence is located within 10 yards of a school property used by the Future Farmers of America.
Ashmore was arrested and booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility. According to booking information, her bail stands at $26,943.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
