Man fleeing road rage accident gets busted for drugs

ST. GEORGE — After fleeing the scene of a vehicle accident that sent one person to the hospital, a 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon on multiple felony drug charges.

Following the accident, which occurred on River Road in St. George and was characterized as road rage by officers on scene, a man driving a white passenger car fled the scene.  An “attempt to locate” bulletin was placed for the white passenger car and led Washington City police officers to locate the vehicle 200 E. Telegraph in Washington. They identified the driver as St. George resident Brayden Daryl Brooks.

Upon investigation St. George police officers found hypodermic needles and what they believed to be methamphetamine, Oxy Codone, Seroquel, several vials of testosterone and other controlled substances which will be sent for further identification to the crime lab, St. George Police Officer Derek Lewis said.

Brooks was charged with seven third-degree felonies for drug possession, two class-B misdemeanors for possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, one class-A misdemeanor for possession of unlawful pharmaceuticals, one class-B misdemeanor for reckless driving and one class-A misdemeanor for leaving the scene of an accident.

Brooks was booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility. According to bookings information Brooks bail stands at $40,732.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

It’s one thing to have an opinion, it’s another to be an out right jerk for no reason. Comments like these are irrelevant and cruel. I’d like to remind you that, in these situations, there are always loved ones suffering. The unwritten side people neglect to consider is the rest of the family that is now left to cope with everything, which is even more difficult if there are children involved. This person is still someone’s son, brother, father, husband, or grandchild…meaning there are still people out there who love this person very much…keep in mind that the rest of the family may also feel embarrassed or ashamed at this behavior, and are bothered by what others may now think…and they may be afraid that this also reflects on them. There is so much torment going on that you likely never even thought to consider when you chose to conduct yourself so poorly. Next time you want to discriminate, please spare the public of your juvenile character.

Sorry I don’t have any sympathy for this low life drug dealer, who I’m sure has ruined several other lives and families…
