Explore: New Adventure Park takes fun to new heights

MESQUITE, Nev. – The sandy, red mesa perfectly positioned behind the Eureka Casino Resort in Mesquite, Nevada, has been transformed into a thrilling new adventure park, offering exciting rides and activities for family members of any age. The Awesome Adventure Park officially opened to the public on Feb. 22 during the Mesquite Off-Road Weekend.

“With the success of Mesquite Off-Road Weekend we felt compelled to create an ‘awesome’ experience that allows fans to experience a similar adrenaline rush as world-class motocross and endurocross athletes,” Stoney Ward, Awesome Adventure Park’s manager, said.

This adrenaline-fueled outdoor adventure park offers an array of opportunities for energized-fun and unmatched entertainment for the entire family. The action-sports themed park features a zipline, archery, an obstacle course, paintball, RC Cars, Razor Side-X-Side Utility Vehicles for kids and adults, and a Supercross swing. However, there are only three weekends left before the park closes for the summer. After a summer break, the park will reopen on Labor Day Weekend in September.

Though the park does require visitors to sign an accident waiver and release of liability before their adventures begin, safety is top priority. Awesome Adventure Park’s expert and exuberantly friendly staff take extra care in checking every clip and safety strap before releasing you on your way.

“We’ve had a great time up here,” Trent Graves, the park’s lead operator, said. “Nobody has ever gotten hurt.”

I believe I can fly

If you have ever wondered what it would feel like to fly through the sky like a freestyle motocross legend, launching through the air and zooming at high speeds across the sky, the Awesome Adventure Park offers you plenty of opportunities to do just that.

While airborne on the park’s zipline, you’ll have time to lean back, relax in your harness and outstretch your arms as you soar 1,000 feet, accelerating to speeds of up to 40 mph, depending on your weight – heavier people are faster. The Adventure Park’s engineers built two parallel cables so riders can share their exhilarating high wire adventure side-by-side with family or friends.

In addition to the high-speed ziplines, the park recently added the Supercross Swing. Adventure seekers have the opportunity to experience the sensation of a thrilling freestyle Motocross jump as their harnesses are released and they drop through the air face first and fly through the sky on a giant swing.

The Adventure Park offers racing enthusiasts the thrilling opportunity to tackle the actual Mesquite Off-Road Weekend track while driving one of the park’s 200cc Razor Side-X-Side Utility Vehicles. The Razors seat four so children also have a chance to ride along and experience the track with an adult driver.

For those racers wanting to race without the helmet, the Traxxas Slash Rally Cars replicate the full-throttle excitement of the full-size machines and their dynamic racing style at a 1/10 scale. Racers will experience rally-racing excitement with multi-terrain versatility at the control of their fingertips.

“It’s like a little off-road buggy,” Graves said. “Some of the kids are pretty good at it because they do a lot of the video games and stuff, so they’ll pick up on it pretty quick.”

To climb and conquer

Adventurers looking for something both physically and mentally challenging may try braving the ropes Obstacle Course with varying design and difficulty levels. Climbers will experience a sense of accomplishment as they navigate through this team-building activity. The various challenge elements test balance, strength, agility and ability to work as a team. Each element includes a different ropes configuration such as bridges, tight ropes, spider webs and balance beams.

“We’re in the process of building some real tall stuff that’s going to put you 15-30 feet off the ground so it’s a high ropes course,” Graves said. “When you’re high-up it changes everything.”

The park also offers a 20-foot rock wall for those adventurers who prefer to tackle a challenge solo.

Let the adventures begin, and bring a friend

The Adventure Park is perfect for the entire group or family. Everyone can participate, from young children to old. Because of the wide variety of activities to choose from, you’re certain to find the right fit for everyone in your party.

“The other thing that’s really nice for our groups, towards the end of the night we build a little fire in the fire pit and everyone can sit around as kind of a culmination of their night and have a fireside chat,” Graves said, “and even have a spiritual side to it if they want. It’s worked out for these groups and they just love it.”

The park offers custom group options for businesses, church groups, wedding parties, teams, youth groups or any other group of 10 or more. Though the park is generally only open on the weekend, for groups of 10 or more, the park opens on weekdays and offers adventure packages starting as low as $15 per person for groups of 20 or more.

“When families and businesses visit our Awesome Adventure Park they will walk away with memories of a lifetime,” Ward said. “There’s nothing quite like overcoming a fear to bring people closer together.”
