Heritage Choir presents musical fireside, special tribute to women

ST. GEORGE – The Southern Utah Heritage Choir will present its Mother’s Day Concert Sunday. “Daughters in His Kingdom” will be presented at 7 p.m. in the St George Tabernacle. The concert will feature a special fireside by Dixie State University Dean of Students Del Beatty. Beatty will share a message about the divine role of women.

Under the baton of Dr. Nancy Allred, director, with Karen Lee Cantera, organist, and Brandon Lee, pianist, the choir is delighted to present this special musical fireside that will be a special tribute to women.

The choir will perform choral favorites such as: “Consider the Lilies,” “Prayer of St. Francis” and “Seek Ye First.” The fireside will also include two original songs by gifted composer, Tami Creamer, “I Know That My Savior Loves Me” and “Daughters in His Kingdom,” which was recently performed as part of the General Women’s Broadcast in March. Both songs will include a girl’s chorus directed by Linda Sheeran and several gifted instrumentalists including Kathryn Porter on the violin, Kim Jones on the cello, and Jennifer Fackrell on the flute.

Other selections will feature mother-daughter duos. Stacie Morris, daughter of Karen Cantera, organist for the choir, will collaborate with her mother in “Amazing Grace,” arranged by Kurt Bestor. Jennifer Fackrell, daughter of Tami Creamer, will collaborate with her mother in “Sicilienne” by Gabriel Faure.  Miranda Wells, granddaughter of choir president, Geri Rhodes, will be featured in “A Child’s Prayer.”

All are invited to enjoy this wonderful evening of choral, vocal, and instrumental music celebrating womanhood and motherhood.
