At about 7:30 p.m., a black pickup truck was making a left-hand turn from Dixie Downs onto Sunset Boulevard, St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said. The truck turned in front of a 4-door black passenger car traveling north on Dixie Drive. The driver of the black car had the right of way on a green light.

“The black truck turned in front of that car and the car hit the truck and the truck turned over,” Despain said.

One individual was transported to the hospital as more of a precaution, Despain said, however no major injuries were reported.

The driver of the truck was cited for failure to yield, Despain said.

There are no other known factors involved.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.

That stoplight has the ability to give a green left turn arrow, but the city didn’t use it. Hoping this might in inspire a change in that.
