Darin J. Walker

Walker Darin(August 12, 1962 – March 3, 2014)

Darin Walker, 51, passed away peacefully in the early morning on March 3, 2014.  He was born August 12, 1962 in American Fork, UT to Jerry Lynn and Linda McCausland Walker.  The oldest of five children, Darin spent his childhood in Pleasant Grove. He attended Pleasant Grove high school. He married the love of his life Lesli Staheli on February 3, 1984 in the St. George Temple.  They are the parents of five children.

Passionate about so many things, “Walk” loved sports, particularly baseball, softball, basketball, the Atlanta Braves and BYU football.  He also loved Christmas, and his community. He considered it a privilege to coach the youth, and loved and supported all the high school sports. He reminded us that Faith, Family, and Friends were most important to him. He taught us that ‘in-laws’ are every bit as important as blood.   He and Lesli welcomed everyone, they made their home the gathering place for many friends and family members, including housing for many nephews and nieces.

Darin cherished the many friendships he had, he loved the community, and supported many events. He was a hard worker. He along with his father-in-law, George, started Staheli Catering over twenty-five years ago.  Darin spent his life running Staheli Catering and recently with Lesli started Heritage Catering. They combined the two businesses, and Darin continued to actively lead this up until the time of his death. He employed many local young men and women as well as family.  He loved the Gospel, and served in many callings within the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. For the past 4 years Darin humbly served as Bishop of the Washington Fields 12th Ward. His service was felt by many and he especially loved anything involving the youth.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Lesli; children: Laci and Matt Casperson, Klint, Kyler, Lakyn, and Kashden Walker. His grandchildren, Karter and Kortlee Casperson, who were the joy of his life.   His Parents: Lynn and Linda Walker, and George and Kathy Staheli; siblings: Kwin and Heidi Walker, Jelynn and Kelly Sanderson, Camalee and Deon Giles, Joelle and Ryan Levin. Wendy and Joseph Hendrix, RaeLee and Bruce Curtis, Krista and Matt Sagers, Mardee and Jed Johnston, Robbie and Janet Staheli, Trent and Andi Staheli, Kathy Jo Staheli and David Monte de Oca.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: Jess and Elaine Walker, Jim and Merle McCausland; and twin grandsons: Kimball and Kolsen Casperson.

I did not know Darrin, but I know some of his family members and I wanted to express my condolences to the entire family. I’ve heard and read all about him and all I can say is what a remarkable man! There are no words that will truly help you deal with this loss and I am so sorry for his passing. Hold tight to each other and keep his memory alive each day and I know you will feel him close. Lots of prayers and love coming your way.

As a kid in Pleasant Grove, growing up close to the Walkers, Darin was the big brother that didn’t pick on me- living just up the street, the Walker home was my other home and Darin’s younger sister Jelynn was my good friend. Adulthood carries us in so many different directions, and the life that Darin and Lesli created for their posterity, from reading this sweet tribute, took me back to those childhood days with Darin, the teenage boy on 700 east in PG. My heart is full of love and admiration for the life and example of Darin Walker.
Lynn, Linda, Kwin, Jelynn, Camilee, Joelle, Lesli- we met a time or 2 🙂 , please know how much I love you and am thinking of you, and all of your family, with a heavy heart from West Virginia! The comforting part is that Darin has graduated, with honors! He has made a difference in so many lives- he will be greeted with, “Well done!”

I didnt know Darrin personally but I remember him being at girls camp when I was in YW. I remember that he had such a great spirit about him. He was always so nice and fun and the spirit was strong when he bore his testimony. I will always be grateful that he was there and made such a big spiritual imprint on my mind as a teenager.
