ST. GEORGE – A St. George teenager was recently selected through a rigorous application and interview process to represent Utah’s 98,000 4-H’ers and 8,400 volunteer 4-H leaders at the 83rd annual National 4-H Conference.
Cierra Parkinson will attend the National 4-H Conference that will be held April 5-10 in Washington, D.C. There will be more than 300 top 4-H’ers and leaders from across the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, and Canada.
The National 4-H Conference is a working conference in which youth and adults, at the invitation of the Secretary of Agriculture, assist in the development of recommendations to help guide 4-H Youth Development Programs nationally and in their communities.
Cierra Parkinson currently serves on the Washington County 4-H Teen Council, is a student at Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts, and is the daughter of Grant and Tracy Parkinson.
The 4-H Youth Development Program uses a learn-by-doing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills they need to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens of the world. This is accomplished by using the knowledge and resources of caring adult volunteers.
