Woman struck by pickup truck, Washington Fields Road

WASHINGTON CITY — A 25-year-old woman was struck by an oncoming pickup truck at the intersection of 2000 South and Washington Fields Road in Washington at about 6 p.m. today.

The woman was walking westbound, Washington City Police spokesman Ed Kantor said, and she stepped out in front of a pickup truck that was traveling northbound on Washington Fields Road.

“She apparently didn’t see the approaching truck,” Kantor said.

The woman’s injuries were not life threatening, but she was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.

Washington City Fire Department and paramedics also responded to the accident, Kantor said.

There was no indication of alcohol or other contributing factors, Kantor said, the accident is still under investigation with no citations having been issued.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Well considering that is an intersection, plus it has crosswalks, I would think the truck driver is at fault considering they didn’t yield to a pedestrian.

Actually there is only a cross walk on one side of the intersection. She was crossing about fifty feet up the road on the opposite side of the crosswalk. Still so sad, I hope both driver and pedestrian are ok.
