‘Bout Time Pub & Grub holds Grand Opening in St. George

ST. GEORGE – Locally owned ‘Bout Time Pub & Grub will celebrate its grand opening Thursday, from 4-9 p.m., at its location in the Phoenix Plaza at 929 West Sunset Boulevard in St. George. The event will feature menu samples, door prizes, Harlem Globetrotter ticket giveaways, a live ESPN radio show broadcast, and appearances by professional boxers.

1554359_200197536844586_807624934_nOwned and operated by Dean and Nancy Barnett of St. George, ‘Bout Time features fresh food, TVs on every wall, a full bar, several arcade machines and a pool table.

Dean Barnett was the former manager of Ruby Tuesday in St. George until it closed, he said, and then he relocated to Pocatello, Idaho.  After talking with Joe Fraser who owns ‘Bout Time corporate and runs the Salt Lake City ‘Bout Time Pub & Grub, Barnett found a franchise opportunity available in St. George and pursued it.

“I’ve lived here two or three times throughout my life,” Barnett said. “The last time we had Ruby Tuesdays and they closed it down; we missed St. George, this is perfect,” he said.

‘Bout Time opened its doors on Dec. 4, 2013.

“It surprised me how well it did right from the git-go,” Dean Barnett said, “we’ve been very busy, really good response.”

‘Bout Time is open in St. George from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. seven days a week.

With eight Utah locations, including Cottonwood, Salt Lake City, Herriman, Ogden, Park City, Tayorsville, West Jordan and West Valley, this is the first ‘Bout Time Pub & Grub for Southern Utah.

More than just food

All of the ‘Bout Time Pub & Grub locations are outfitted with high quality HD video equipment so that the game is shown crystal clear – making the Pub a great place to watch sports. They carry the NFL Sunday ticket, MLB Extra Innings and the MLS Direct Kick from Direct TV so no one has to miss their favorite team.

While watching sports, the fun continues with Buzztime Interactive Entertainment where patrons can play trivia against friends, organize a friendly poker match, or interact live with NFL games and play QB1 Predict the Play.

I sure hope they have better food here than they did at Ruby Tuesday. And I hope the prices are more reasonable!

We’ve gone several times during the soft opening in early December. The food is great, the staff are friendly, the space is open and clean. The only gripe we have is that over several visits we never saw an improvement in speed of service. I totally understand opening kinks, but one expects them to be worked out over the course of a month. Each time we’re there (with one exception when we were the only customers) the service is very slow with long spells of empty beer glasses. Also, three weeks in, they were still passing around a single piece of paper with the beer list or letting you read their list written on the back of their order pads. I kept hearing the reason was that their printer was broken. Seems like a quick trip to FedEx Office, Staples or UPS Store to make some copies would have been an easy and quick fix.

Perhaps there is a reason Mr. Barnett has lived here two or three times? Two OR three? He can’t even remember how many?
