MESQUITE, Nev. – Police arrested three California residents suspected of a daytime residential burglary.
The burglary occurred Tuesday afternoon with approximately $16,000 worth of jewelry being stolen, Mesquite Police said in a statement. Detectives concluded their investigation into the incident Wednesday.
The investigation led to the arrest of Gavin Makinson, 31, of Clovis, Calif., Levi Ochotorena, 33, of Loomis, Calif, and Vanessa Davis, 33, of Fresno, Calif., who are suspected to have committed the crime. They were apprehended while attempting to leave Mesquite for California.
Makinson was charged with felony burglary, felony possession of stolen property, felony injury to other’s property, felony possession of methamphetamine, gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
Ochotorena was charged with felony burglary, felony possession of stolen property, felony injury to other’s property, and gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools.
Davis was charged with felony possession of stolen property, and felony possession of methamphetamine.
Mesquite Police Investigations Captain Shane Charles commended the detectives responsible for capturing the suspects and returning the property to the victims.
“Our detectives demonstrated exemplary police work by their swift action in capturing the perpetrators and reuniting the victims with their property,” Charles said.
