Three doe deer were shot and left to waste during the 2013 rifle deer hunt. One doe was killed near Brown’s Canyon, another near Camp Jackson and another on Long Canyon. All three deer were found by sportsmen who contacted DWR.

The first two deer were killed on Oct. 19, the opening day of the rifle deer hunt. The third doe was killed during the last weekend of the rifle deer hunt. All three deer were shot within 30 yards of the road and left to waste.

A cow and calf elk were also shot and left to rot on Oct. 6 near Sago Flat on Elk Ridge.

If you were hunting in these areas and know any additional details about these incidents, please call the Utah Turn in a Poacher hotline at 1-800-662-3337. Monetary rewards are available to individuals who can offer information that leads to a successful prosecution. Requests for confidentiality will be respected.

If you witness incidents like this while you’re in the field, please make your best attempt to gather vital information for officers. A license plate number, vehicle characteristics, number of people involved and physical description of those individuals are pertinent details that will help officers.
