SOUTHERN UTAH – A FedEx semi pulling two trailers crashed on southbound Interstate 15 Friday afternoon, restricting highway travel to a single lane around mile post 38. The crash is one of many that were reported Friday afternoon due to slick road conditions.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper James Curtis said the driver was changing lanes to avoid a previous crash along the roadway’s shoulder. While doing so the second trailer began to slide due to slick road conditions. The driver attempted to correct the problem, but the semi went into the cable barrier on the side of the road and one of the trailers rolled onto its side, blocking traffic.
One lane of travel has been opened up, though work crews remain in the process of clearing the accident as of 5 p.m. The FedEx driver was unharmed.
Another semi was reported to have slid off the highway between mile posts 40-42 around 4:40 p.m. The driver in this incident is also reported to be unharmed.
Multiple accidents occurred along I-15 between St. George and Cedar City Friday afternoon that the Utah Department of Transportation described as “fender benders.”
Overall conditions on I-15 past mile post 30 appear not to be the most favorable for travel at the moment. Motorists are advised to be patient and drive slow and safely on the interstate so as not to endanger themselves and others. The faster a vehicle goes in wet and snowy conditions, the longer it takes to stop.

Can’t count the number of FED-EX trucks I’ve seen on their sides over the years. Drivers that don’t have the brains to slow down in bad weather. I’ve driven way more than a million accident free miles, a whole lot of it with doubles and triples. There is no reason for these clowns to lay them over. It is just inexperience and ignorance.
We seen that crash along with 5 other’s from the top of Black ridge to exit 42 where we got off to go home.
They drive to fast for conditions.
You have no clue what lead to the crash. Maybe he was avoiding another vehicle that cut him off. People around here love to blame the truck driver when most of the time it is the smaller vehicle drivers innattention. I too have driven over a million miles and have seen alot of bad drivers in trucks as well but think before you know both sides of a story
Hopefully this jerk driver will be looking for a new job next week.
You have no Idea what happened to call him a jerk driver. He did everything he was supposed to do things happen and they happen fast. yeah that’s my man out there cleaning up the mess trying to get the trailers upright again so you can get back on the road. Great job Freedom Towing you guys are the best!!!
Yeah, I see these jerk drivers from FEDEX all the time. You don’t like it, too bad.
Whether or not the speculation is wrong, get over it…the truth is (you know it, too) that too many vehicles that are off the side of the road – maybe 99.9% of them, could have been avoided if they were cautious. Personality traits linger for a long, long time, that is – until someone owns up to their mistakes and begins correcting them.
FYI…He has been a trucker for over 20 yrs and has never been in an accident. Don’t comment if you don’t know all the details…he wasn’t even speeding. Get off your high horse, it could happen to you.
Well he sure can’t say that he’s never been in an accident now, can he. “And he wasn’t even speeding,” makes it sound like ‘he wasn’t even speeding for a change.’ I see these FEDEX clowns all the time out there, tailgating, weaving in and out of traffic, and of course the great kicker, where there are two of them that get side by side and hold up traffic for miles. They are idiots, and quite obviously their managers are no better, as they tolerate this type of driving.
Oh, and I like it up here on my “high horse.” 😛
And don’t forget the UPS drivers also.
