ST. GEORGE – A minivan driving northbound on Interstate 15 flew off the freeway, through the dividing fence, and onto Red Cliffs Drive Thursday morning.
“The driver said he had a medical condition and blacked out,” Trooper Roger Larson of the Utah Highway Patrol said.
The accident happened at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Thursday Nov. 7.
There were no injuries, but the back window on the minivan was shattered and there was some damage to the front end.
No medical personnel were called to the scene and the elderly driver appeared OK and was walking around on his own accord. After the accident, an elderly woman and a younger man arrived at the scene and embraced the driver.
The minivan was driven from the scene by the woman while the original driver rode off in the passenger seat.
This accident occurred just a few minutes before another unrelated accident on the same block between a garbage truck and a pickup truck.
