LAVERKIN – The LaVerkin Police confirmed Monday that the victim in last week’s aggravated assault case has passed away.
LaVerkin Police Detective Travis Romney said Donald George Loomer, 64, died from injuries sustained in an alleged assault by John Stetter Stucki, 54, of LaVerkin on Oct. 9. Loomer and Stucki were reportedly both intoxicated when Loomer hit Stucki in the face with a coffee cup and Stucki responded by hitting Loomer in the back of the head with a large branch.
Loomer was flown to Las Vegas in critical condition with significant head trauma. He was subsequently placed on life support until Sunday afternoon.
“The family and doctors made the decision to take him off life support yesterday and he passed away at 15:56 Nevada time which is 4:56 p.m., Utah time,” Romney said.
Stucki had been charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault with the intent to harm, along with with charges of intoxication, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief.
“Charges will be amended to homicide by assault,” Romney said.
Ed. note: Persons charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Travis Romney would be a Laverkin Officer, not SGPD
That would be right, Matthew. We saw it, we corrected it. Our apologies.
Uh oh lil john stucki’s in troubleeee!
Not really. Now he has “three hots and a cot” for the foreseeable future. . .All at our expense. . .
This story in whole brings me sadness and my prayers are for both families.
Shouldn’t throw and hit someone in the face with a coffee cup if you can’t take a blow to the head.
My thoughts are with the family. How sad this is.
