Sen. Lee: Proposed House bill will defund ACA

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, released the following statement Thursday in favor of Rep Tom Graves’s, R-Georgia, legislation to defund the Affordable Care Act.

Lee stated:

“Congressman Tom Graves has introduced a bill today that would continue to fund all the functions of government and protect the American people from ObamaCare for at least one year. The House should pass this legislation immediately and send it to the Senate. The president has delayed the implementation of ObamaCare for big business, unions, and his special interest supporters. Congress should act to delay it for the rest of the country, as well.”

According to Rep. Graves’s website, his “Stability, Security and Fairness Resolution” (H.J.Res. 62) currently has 42 cosponsors in the House.

Graves said of the legislation:

This plan is straightforward. We will achieve long-term stability by funding the government for the next fiscal year. Additionally, the resolution includes the three House-passed appropriations bills that affect our national security and our veterans. Our troops, their families and our veterans should not have their priorities put on hold. Finally, our plan will achieve fairness for every American by fully delaying and defunding Obamacare until 2015. This approach builds upon the Obama Administration’s policy of delaying portions of Obamacare and relieves taxpayers of the burden of funding a program that is not being implemented.”

The full text of the legislation can be read here.

Our man in DC… gitten er done!

Whoops, never mind. He’s a clueless twit who panders to his electorate’s base instincts and postures ineffectually like a pimply faced high school debater. me

Well that tells volumes about your character! You into sleaze real estate dealings also?

Senator Lee, why do you want to deny health insurance (and thus health care) to more than 30 million Americans? Why do you want to allow insurance companies to deny coverage for even the most benign of pre-existing conditions? Why do you want insurance companies to be allowed to spend only a small fraction of premiums on actual health care?

Senator Lee, why do you hate America?

philiplo, Perhaps after you have read the bill in it’s entirety, (something that most of our legislators have not done) you wouldn’t sound like such a partisan loyalist… I can’t see why you would want to see legislation, whose net effects are bad for the country, implemented. I say if it is not good enough for our legislators and the unions, we all should have the option of being exempted…..

“…whose net effects are bad for the country…”
        .
Please elaborate. What are these horrible things that will happen with the ACA? Offer some specifics and some clarity, because without those there is no reason to believe you.

It is just bad legislation, full of pork and government expansion. It should have never been passed. If our legislators had paid attention to the enormous red flag (“You have to pass the bill to find out what is in it….”) it probably never would have been passed…

Gee thanks Sen. Can you explain to me how I will get access to healthcare? I mean I’ve been without for 10 years now, and the ACA will remedy that. I trust that if you defund it, you have another solution that will help out the millions like me who can’t get insurance without it. No? Didn’t think so.

Tracie, Why don’t you give us your top 3 plans to get health care for your self. After all, this country thrives on individual initiative. Is there nothing you can do for yourself?

This complete so called “healthcare” bill is unconstitutional in the first place.Put in place by an ILLEGAL President.
