ST. GEORGE – A two-vehicle collision occurred at the the intersection of Skyline Drive and Red Hills Parkway Friday morning and sent two people to the hospital.
The St. George Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident that occurred shortly before 11 a.m. SGPD Sgt. Craig Harding said that a gray Ford Focus was traveling northbound on Skyline Drive and was making a left turn through a green light onto Red Hills Parkway when it was impacted by a white SUV traveling southbound.
The driver of the gray Ford Focus “said he started to turn and the southbound vehicle, which also presumably had a green light, didn’t stop for him – couldn’t stop – and they crashed,” Harding said.
Harding said the driver of the gray Ford Focus, which was a rental car, is from Switzerland and may not be familiar with the area. He was cited for not yielding on a left turn.
Airbags deployed in the white SUV; its occupants - a female driver and male passenger – were transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center as a precautionary measure.
The scene of the crash was cleared by 11:50 a.m.
