ST. GEORGE – “Overpasses for Obama’s Impeachment” is a national protest that is currently taking place across the United States. To the participants, there is corruption currently taking place in the United States government and they want to raise public awareness. It is a call to action, a call for impeachment of the president.

The temperature was over 100 degrees today, but protesters did not let that hinder their goal. Southern Utahns gathered for protest at Interstate 15’s Exit 6 overpass on Bluff Street beginning at 10 a.m.

“There is support in numbers,” Jody Lynn Wilkerson said, “we are tired of seeing the things that are happening and we want them to change.

(report continues below)

Videocast by Samantha Tommer, St. George News

The protesters at the St. George overpass said they want to make their motto clear:

“It is not about right or left,” Wilkerson said, “but it’s about what is right and wrong.” The protesters want to band together to make a change: A change for the better, they said.

One major point that protesters across the nation feel is a determining factor to impeach Obama is the fact that the Constitution is not being followed by the government.

“A lot of people in America are fed up with Obama and lawlessness and all of the things he has done to disrespect the Constitution,” Toquerville resident Stefanie Williams said. “I am fed up with Obama and his blatant disregard for the rule of law.”

One protester drove by the protest on Bluff with his wife and jumped out of his car to join the protest to raise awareness.

“I heard about this protest initially on Facebook…There were people here, so I jumped out of the car,” St. George resident Michael Lythgoe said. “A few of us have got to stand up for what’s going on in this country and I am more than willing to stand here.”

Over 30 Overpasses for Obama’s Impeachment protests took place today on a national scale. States that participated include Florida, Georgia, New York, Arizona and … Utah.

The St. George protesters are planning to participate in another protest upcoming next Saturday.

While I detest Obama, I think before we talk impeachment, we should think about just who will replace him! Is there any sane person that thinks Biden will be any better?>

    • Craig August 18, 2013 at 6:24 am

      Point well taken!

      • Tom August 18, 2013 at 8:11 am

Just think! If something had happened to Dick Cheney, we might have had George W Bush as a President.

    • Tom August 18, 2013 at 2:18 pm

While I have no reason to “detest” anyone, is there any sane person who thinks the Biden could be any worse than the self serving crackpots and nut cases leading the Republican party?

  • Randy T August 17, 2013 at 7:12 pm

Should I be suprised at the sheer ignorance?? Fox News should be proud! Look at their litte sheep go…

  • CC August 17, 2013 at 7:31 pm

    Ridiculous!

  • Blutarsky August 17, 2013 at 8:38 pm

The Right Wing is making all of this too easy. Try ideas instead of tantrums.

    Hillary 2016 !!!

  • JP August 17, 2013 at 9:02 pm

Unfortunately even if Obama was impeached would Biden be any better? Also there are hundreds of other corrupt politicians with their own agendas. Would our government get any better or would it just open up space for bigger power seekers?

  • Mike Biller August 17, 2013 at 9:16 pm

This is still a great country; people have the right to protest. It looks like, from the pictures maybe, five protesters.

  • South West August 17, 2013 at 9:21 pm

Ignorant people, I bet they don’t have an education they only believe what they here on TV, sit on the couch collect food stamps, and unemployment checks, typical Americans, Obama saved this country from Bush screw ups!

    • jared w August 18, 2013 at 9:22 am

You just described the people that voted for obama. Good job

  • Utah Amber August 17, 2013 at 9:22 pm

Absolute ridiculousness. Impeach him for what? They need to do more homework. Zombies are alive and well and their raising flags on the overpasses.

  • Aric Cramer August 17, 2013 at 9:44 pm

Where ere these patriots during the Bush years and his 62 MAJOR scandals?

    • Answer August 18, 2013 at 8:14 am

Fox News didn’t inform them. I don’t remember Fox News reporting about the 92 embassy worker deaths from terrorists attacks and bombing US embassies during the bush administration.

    • Tom August 18, 2013 at 2:08 pm

They got all worn out trying to dummy up charges on White Water and Impeachment of Clinton over Lewinski (instead of Censoring him for “conduct unbecoming”). Now after sleeping through 8 years of President Cheney, They are all fired up again (Where’s Kenneth Starr when they need him?).

  • Giuseppe August 17, 2013 at 10:34 pm

Shame on them for using their children as pawns. NSA? Enacted during Bush Jr. after 9-11, where were the impeach happy Republicans when that administration passed it into law? Obama controls the IRS? Really? Obamacare? Obamacare is a cookie cutter copy of Mitt Romeny’s Massachusetts health care reform bill of 2006, he himself even said so . . . yet you wanted him in the Whitehouse instead? You people make me sick. You don’t like that he beat a Mormon and he is black. get a clue and quit using your children to push your political message.

    • Save The Children August 18, 2013 at 8:17 am

This was a pathetic use of children by a hate filled group. They should be ashamed of themselves.

  • Chris August 17, 2013 at 11:23 pm

Massive crowd from what I can see in the pictures. Was this really worth a write up, Samantha? Maybe, you are one of these wackos.

    • Tom August 18, 2013 at 11:22 am

Massive amount of photos for what I can see in the crowd. More photos than crowd. Maybe Samantha just likes taking photos of children in childish activities.

  • Fred August 17, 2013 at 11:42 pm

I was so pleased to see these people asking for Barry’s impeachment. Problem is they can’t impeach an ILLEGAL PRESIDENT. Only arrest him for his phony records and possibly treason.

He is the cause of so many scandals and stepping all over the Constitution and our so called representatives do nothing. Paid off or threatened?

He is destroying this country. His associations prove his character. So called “Reverend” Wright, Bill Ayres and so many more.
    Look at:

    http://www.thepostemail.com/

    and

    http://obamareleaseyourrecords.blogspot.com/

    and

    http://giveusliberty1776.blogspot.com/

There are more people asking for his impeachment all over the country but the “controlled media” have a blackout on this type of news.

    • Tom August 18, 2013 at 8:15 am

Is your real name Ted Assenault?

    • Bender August 18, 2013 at 8:48 am

      Fred’s off his meds again.

    • Chris August 18, 2013 at 4:49 pm

“Our so called representatives do nothing” because even the most partisan Republicans know that there is nothing to this birther nonsense. People like Fred show their amazing ignorance and gullibility by continuing this idiotic venture. A month ago, Fred was assuring us that there would be congressional hearings on this, but now he is saying the representatives are “paid off or threatened” because his predictions have not come true.

  • Tracie Price August 18, 2013 at 5:53 am

“Many” people protesting? Looks like a meager handful to me. The reporter is showing her bias in making this out to be more substantial than it actually was.

Here’s a news flash for you folks– if you actually put the words “It’s not about race” as part of your slogan, (from their FB page) guess what? It’s about race. That’s akin to saying “I’m not prejudiced, but… “

    • Amazed August 18, 2013 at 8:08 am

More people demonstrated on behalf of gay rights than the number of clowns that turned out for this demonstration. Particularly sad is their use of children…. children too young to understand politics, children who should be playing, interacting with other children, not being used as a tool by a hate filled group.

  • Amazed August 18, 2013 at 8:05 am

I am absolutely amazed that so many people were able to pluck their lazy butts off the couch and stop watching Fox News broadcasting long enough to stand on a bridge. Ever visit the home of these types? They have Fox News on, the volume turned up loud and don’t miss a chance to argue and voice their approval about something the broadcaster said…. as if the television can hear them, or as if whoever is visiting them really wants to hear their anti-democrat/Obama rhetoric that flows from their mouths like the worst case of diarrhea. These types usually do nothing constructive for their community. They think their constant complaining is a good thing. They demand a lot, give nothing.

  • DoubleTap August 18, 2013 at 9:20 am

How did Dorothy Engelman get all these commenters to post comments all at the same time? After Dorothy’s Saturday article in the other local paper…why is it she doesn’t run for office? Typical left wing progressive liberals. Whiners….

    • Tom August 18, 2013 at 2:22 pm

Are you running for office or are you just whining?

    • Ken August 18, 2013 at 2:42 pm

I think she learned from Gayle Ruzicka typical right wing busybody whiner extraordinaire!!

    • Chris August 18, 2013 at 4:58 pm

The “whiners” are those people on the overpass. Were you there, Double Tap? If not, why?

      • DoubleTap August 19, 2013 at 8:52 am

Chris…I would have been there had it not been for having to work that day. Yes I work to support myself and my family. I also work to pay the taxes that provide all you liberals with the free stuff you have come to depend on Obama to provide you. Food Stamps, Section 8 Housing assistance, ObamaPhones, unemployment benefits, WIC and AFDC benefits and all the other free stuff you want. Just imagine if Obama was impeached and forced from office …how would you be able to afford the free stuff you come to depend on Obama to provide to you at the expense of others? It’s no wonder all you liberals support Obama….if he was gone, you would be forced to actually get a job to just exist. When was the last time you actually held a job? Awhhh….still trying to get all the free stuff you can, I see.

    • Randy T August 19, 2013 at 10:10 am

It’s funny to me that everyone on the other side seems to bring up Dorothy E. even though she hasn’t made any comments on this article… Sounds like YOU’RE the one whining here. Are you really that simple minded that you have to attack Dorothy EVERY single time you ever make a comment?? Grow up DoubleTap.

      • DoubleTap August 19, 2013 at 10:47 am

Randy T….really hate to give up the free stuff, huh? If you had a job you could actually get ahead some and not depend on the handouts of others. Liberals really hate to address the issues (all the free stuff) that they so depend on. They tell others to “grow up”, hahaha….how about you grow up and stop taking from others? By the way, I am a Vietnam veteran and a retired from law enforcement about 15 years ago. I have served this great country a great deal more than you ever could dream of. You have no clue about being grown up Mr. T.

        • Randy T August 19, 2013 at 12:17 pm

I’m sorry, have we met???? I didn’t think so… So how about you judge someone else, it’s absolutely ridiculous that all you can say about liberals is they love free stuff (absolute lie) It’s like saying all conservatives are racists! Ya I didn’t think you liked that did you. I have a career thank you. I support our community and I vote DEMOCRAT, why you ask, I LOVE our county and I want something better.

  • john lindsay August 18, 2013 at 12:07 pm

I dont own a tv nor do I listen to the radio. So when you Obama lovers call people like us ” sheeples” and go on and on about Fox news, it doesnt make a bit of sense as to why we detest him.Noone i know, nor myself, are weak minded enough to let anything or anyone tell us our opinions about him.Its not all that hard to tell he is a liar. And we see right through his “charm”. He is a silver tongued devil and to the rest of us its completely obvious. If you think we are the “sheeple”, why is it
that the only two reasons that all Obama supporters use the very same two excuses? Every single time its because of Fox news and we are “sheeples”…sounds like you guys are the “sheeples” to me………Have fun fighting amongst yourselves

  • Deke August 18, 2013 at 1:30 pm

this is what happens when your only news comes from FOX whose main sources for quotes are The Heritage Foundation, Dick Armey, Ted Cruz, Louie Gohmert and Donald Trump. the little child made me sad. hope she does not grow up perpetuating the hate and abuse.

  • philiplo August 18, 2013 at 7:44 pm

It has to be the same six or seven people who set up a stand a couple of years ago at the corner of River Road and 700 South (by Maverik & Harmon’s). They had a table, an umbrella for shade, and a handful of wackos distracting traffic by waving “Impeach Obama” signs.

That original group had pictures of the president and of Nancy Pelosi on their signs. They had drawn Hitler moustaches on the pols, and were asking people to sign a petition for impeachment of both.

    • philiplo August 18, 2013 at 7:45 pm

      It was early September, 2010.

    • Tom August 19, 2013 at 10:51 pm

Are they from Kansas, by any chance?

  • Fred August 18, 2013 at 7:59 pm

Instead of calling names and complaining this book says it all. Just the facts. Impeachable Offenses!

There is no one that can say this author is wrong.

    http://www.wnd.com/2013/08/cronyism-corruption-cover-ups-cited-as-impeachable-offenses/?cat_orig=politics

    • Ken August 19, 2013 at 2:02 pm

This a far right wing conservative author. Sorta like using your mother as a job reference! Just the facts? Too funny Fred that is the problem, you think anything printed by the right is fact and others think anything printed by the left is fact. The only fact is this guy would tell you whatever to make money from his books.

    • Tom August 19, 2013 at 10:46 pm

Are there any http://www.whatever sites for Mien Kampf and Mao’s little red book? Their wing nuts didn’t dare say Hitler and Mao could be wrong either. They just blindly followed and regurgitated what they were told.

  • Don Leonard August 19, 2013 at 8:47 am

Impeachment doesn’t mean removal from office. It only means a slap on the wrist – officially told to stop doing whatever it is he’s been doing wrong. Bill Clinton was impeached, and he finished his term. Richard Nixon was impeached and he voluntarily resigned.

    • Randy T August 19, 2013 at 10:04 am

Don, Impeachment actually does mean removal from office… Pres Clinton and Pres Nixon actually were never Impeached. Only articles of Impeachment were filed. The articles of impeachment are drafted by the House of Representatives and only once drafted and a investigation started can then the Senate vote by super majority to convict based upon the articles.

      YOUR WELCOME 😀

  • Combat Vet and Democrat August 19, 2013 at 10:53 am

I started my first paying job when i was ten years old. I humped up and down hills and through rice paddies in Vietnam for a year and a half. I worked and went to school to get my degree with the help of the GI Bill. (I suppose you think that is another a give-away program for slackers.) I have news for you DoubleTap; President Obama won, twice, because I and a lot of other hard working, educated veterans voted for him. I have another news flash for you, I will be voting again.

    • DoubleTap August 19, 2013 at 11:47 am

Combat Vet and Democrat…..Great!! That makes two of us who will be voting again. And by the way, thank you for YOUR service. Glad we both made it back home in one piece.

      • Zeke August 20, 2013 at 10:05 am

So it sounds like you’re both voting again. For Obama? Didn’t quite catch who for so I’m just guessing here. Oh, and I’m also a vet and I am totally disgusted by our current administration in D.C. Disgusted beyond belief right now. But, thanks for your service but I’m embarrassed for your lack of intelligence that you voted for that guy TWICE!

        • Ken August 20, 2013 at 11:13 am

Now that is too funny “lack of intelligence” pot meet kettle! From your comment it’s rather telling of your self esteem. Can’t just make a comment about how you feel but have to try and bring others down to your level. I don’t for one believe your a vet and furthermore don’t care. You don’t and won’t ever represent the brothers I have lost!

          • Zeke August 20, 2013 at 12:48 pm

I am a vet which is why I am so surprised (or disgusted) that others who “actually” did serve in our military voted for this guy twice. Hard to believe that’s true.

  • Combat Vet and Democrat August 19, 2013 at 5:20 pm

    DoubleTap

It seems we have a lot in common. I wish we all, especially our leaders would find what we have in common and work on those issues. Compromise is the only way anything will be accomplished.

    • DoubleTap August 20, 2013 at 12:22 pm

      Combat Vet and Democrat:
I will agree with you that we probably have a lot in common….with the exception of our current administration. Worst administration EVER.

      • Lisa August 21, 2013 at 1:37 pm

Oh, my! Worst administration EVER? I think some study of history might be needed. As an Independent, I have to say I certainly don’t agree with everything President Obama does – by a long shot – but “worst administration ever”? I don’t think so. What I can’t believe is that the protestors are still hung up on a birth certificate. It’s been 5 years folks. Let’s move on to a new reason to make a fuss. Are you folks paying any attention to local issues of importance like “water” or just trying to get headlines for something that has little relevance locally?

  • Zeke Hat August 21, 2013 at 11:37 am

What idiots, putting children in a possibly dangerous position on a busy street….Morons….!
