UPDATE Aug. 11, 2013 – UDOT reported this morning that the bridge demolition crews completed work earlier than expected and Friday night was the last of the Boulevard and I-15 lane closures. All lanes are now open with no closures currently scheduled.
ST. GEORGE – Exit 8 ramps for Interstate 15 turn into a freeway Friday and Saturday night and cannot be used to get on, off, or across the interchange. Absolutely no pedestrians will be allowed to cross the area.
St. George Boulevard over Interstate 15 will be closed at night while the contractor works to demolish portions of the south side of the bridge over I-15. The closures will be in effect both days from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The Exit 8 ramps will be used as travel lanes so motorists will have to use the other exits to get off and on I-15.

Local traffic will be able to follow detour signs around the St. George Boulevard closure between 1000 East and River Road.

Early morning workers need to be prepared to use an alternate route if they travel between the Boulevard and River Road so they are not unexpectedly late to work.

The St. George Boulevard/Exit 8 Interchange began work in July and is estimated to be completed by the the end of November. The purpose of the construction is to create a Diverging Diamond Interchange which is designed to reduce waiting times at lights and make the interchange more efficient overall.
Utah Department of Transportation officials have said the new interchange will also better support growing traffic along the I-15 corridor through 2040.
The total cost the project is valued at $16.3 million.

The last time I saw the large digital construction signs they said that the closure would be from 10PM to 6 AM, not 11PM to 7 AM. Have they changed the times or was this an error?
