Washington County ranks in top 50 Utah elementary schools

WASHINGTON COUNTY – According to the 2011-2012 Utah Comprehensive Accountability System data, five Washington County schools rank in the top 50 public elementary schools in Utah.

Ratings are given based on scores from end-of-year Criterion Referenced Tests under the Utah State Office of Education’s UCAS system.  The system assess student proficiency in math, science, and language arts, as well as the direct writing assessment.

The top Washington County schools are ranked as follows:

#8 Diamond Valley Elementary
Grades tested: 3-5
State average school performance: 435/600
School performance: 567/600
Growth points: 300/300
Achievement points: 267/300
Number of teachers: 16
Enrollment: 272

#21 Springdale Elementary (tie)
Grades tested: 3-6
State average school performance: 435/600
School performance: 550/600
Growth points: 300/300
Achievement points: 250/300
Number of teachers: 3
Enrollment: 42

#23 Little Valley Elementary (tie)
Grades tested: 3-5
State average school performance: 435/600
School performance: 548/600
Growth points: 275/300
Achievement points: 273/300
Number of teachers: 31
Enrollment: 665

#30 Horizon Elementary
Grades tested: 3-5
State average school performance: 435/600
School performance: 542/600
Growth points: 267/300
Achievement points: 275/300
Number of teachers: 29
Enrollment: 629

#42 Sunset Elementary (tie)
Grades tested: 3-5
State average school performance: 435/600
School performance: 530/600
Growth points: 292/300
Achievement points: 238/300
Number of teachers: 33
Enrollment: 531
