MESQUITE, Nev. – Usually drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol are pinpointed and pulled over by police. However, in the case of one driver in Mesquite, Nev., she found them first when her car ran into a patrol car early Saturday morning.

According to the Mesquite Police Department, at approximately 5:40 a.m., a police patrol unit traveling southwest on Hillside Drive toward the Sandhill Boulevard intersection was struck by a passenger car exiting Peggy Sue’s restaurant parking lot.

The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to the scene and conducted the accident investigation.  Three people – the patrol officer, the driver, and an occupant of the passenger car – were transported to Mesa View Hospital with minor injuries. They were treated and released the same day.

The driver, an adult woman, was determined to be driving intoxicated. She was charged with a DUI offense and failure to yield right of way from a private drive.
