ST. GEORGE – Washington County Sherriff’s Office arrested 42-year-old Jamal David Diggs on a felony warrant out of Hawaii, and for drug and drug-related charges today.
Diggs was booked into Washington County Correctional Facility at 2:16 a.m. after being arrested at the west end of Santa Clara near the historic Jacob Hamblin home.
Local offenses underlying the arrest include possession of paraphernalia and a marijuana charge, both class B misdemeanors. Arrest on the Hawaii warrant is a third-degree felony and bond required on that charge is $30,000.
Diggs was initially stopped on a traffic offense for failing to dim his high beams in the face of approaching traffic, Sheriff’s Det. Nate Abbott said.
The Hawaii warrant came up under the national criminal database as an extraditable warrant. Then the deputies found the paraphernalia and drug offenses.
Abbot said until he viewed the warrant and tracked it back he could not say whether the arrest warrant is related to a Sept. 2012 well-publicized arrest of Diggs in Waikiki.
Jamal Diggs, better known by his stage name J-Diggs, also Jay Digs or J-Diggs tha Rockstar, is an American rapper and co-CEO of the late Mac Dre’s Thizz Entertainment. From a two parent home in Vallejo, California, Diggs was first arrested at age 19 and has spent his life battling the law in and out of prison.
In September 2012 Diggs was arrested on charges of assault and attempted murder in Hawaii after getting into a brawl with security guards who had reportedly kicked him and three others out of the Big Kahuna Bar and Grill in Waikiki. According to many media reports, Diggs was released from the Hawaii jail on $150,000 bond.
St. George News inquiries in to some of the law enforcement agencies involved are pending return calls. This is a developing story.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
UPDATED 5 p.m. and 8:55 p.m. to include information provided by Det. Nate Abbott, confirming booking 2:16 a.m. and detailing the traffic stop.

What I am not surprised about is that he got pulled over driving through Santa Clara. Those Ivins/Santa Clara cops will pull you over for the slightest infraction. I’m guessing that much Luke the utilities in the area they are trying to make some income for the small town. I’m not sure why small towns want to be on their own.
