WASHINGTON CITY – A runaway truck ended up putting a hole in the side of a Washington home it crashed into Wednesday afternoon.
Ed Kantor, public information officer for the Washington City Police Department, said that around 5 p.m., a private party using a flatbed truck had parked the vehicle after using it to haul materials and had also set the parking brake. Kantor said it’s suspected the brake failed as the truck began to roll then crashed into the side of a house at 200 East 200 North.
Sindy Elamrani, of Washington, wrote on the St. George New Facebook page: “The owner of the truck had his little girl inside the truck asleep in her car seat when the (emergency) brake gave way. They were about to go to the store. She was checked out by the paramedics and was just fine. Thank goodness none of the boys were playing in the bedroom where the truck hit.”
Kantor confirmed no one was harmed in the incident and the damage was relatively minimal.
No estimate on the damage caused the home was provided.
