HURRICANE – Just as the dust from the Ironman 70.3 settles, BBSC Endurance Sports brought another triathlon to the St. George area Saturday, giving race fans another chance to swim Sand Hollow, cycle and pound the pavement in scenic Southern Utah.
BBSC has been organizing races in Nevada, Utah, and Colorado, for over a decade, spreading their passion for the sport to athletes from all over the Western United States. This year saw the
This particular race is considered to have one of the most scenic courses in the BBSC series. The SG–>Tri is similar in layout to the larger Ironman race, but is significantly shorter in distance, working around Sand Hollow Reservoir as its central hub of activity.
Youth divisions allowed young racers to experience the triathlon style of race, and get hooked early. And various divisions drew runners of all skill levels.
Fortunately for racers, the weather stayed clear during the race yesterday, and temperatures remained moderate.
The BBSC series will come back through St. George in September for the Kokopelli triathlon, also in Hurricane. This race is identical to the race this month – in fact the organizers call it the twin to the SG_>Tri, but is held later in the year. Participants are challenged to race again at the end of the summer, and aim for beating their earlier time on the same course.
