ENTERPRISE – At approximately 10:45 a.m. Friday, emergency personnel were dispatched to a report of a structure fire near 2500 North state Route 18 approximately three miles north of Enterprise. Emergency personnel were advised the structure, a barn, was unoccupied but was full of farm equipment. They were further notified other structures may be threatened as well.
Upon arrival, the owner was found removing some of the farm equipment from the building. The owner was able to remove some equipment before the fire completely consumed the building.
Fire crews from the Enterprise, Beryl and Newcastle Fire Departments responded to the area. There were approximately 15 fire apparatuses on scene trying to control the fire. The fire was contained to the building and adjacent area.
The fire caused a power outage to a few homes in the area. Power was later restored by Rocky Mountain Power. The structures near the fire were protected by fire personnel with no known damage to them.
The fire destroyed the barn and the farm equipment and other contents that had been left inside. There were two vehicles and other farm equipment also destroyed which were adjacent to the building.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time but does not appear to be arson. The Utah State Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing the investigation.
The estimated loss of the building and contents is approximately $50,000.

Thanks to all the selfless volunteer firemen! Not just to the ones who responded on this fire, but to all of them in both Washington and Iron Counties. You guys and gals make our lives so much safer!
My son was one of the firefighters to respond to this blaze from Enterprise. The structure that burned was the old Zuckerman Farm shop and was owned by my father for about 10 years. He used it as his shop and airplane hanger. So it was interesting for my family to have my son helping to extinguish the fire with so much history and memories for our family. And Dad lost 3 members of his family in Nov 1978 when the old Zuckerman home burned. Life has some strange twists and turns sometimes.
I also agree with Big Don that the volunteer firefighters need to be recognized for their selfless service in keeping us all safe. They put themselves in harms way and sacrifice many hours away from their families. And you have no idea how the family members worry about these heroes when they are off doing their jobs. And their employers need to be commended for allowing these people time away from their jobs to do what they do. THANKS SO MUCH!
I realized after I posted my first comment that someone might misconstrue my comments, so I will clarify. My father owned the building in question in the 1970’s and 1980’s. So he hasn’t owned it for many years. And I am so glad that most of the farm equipment that had been stored in the “barn” was able to be saved. Since it had been rented by friends of my family. Any loss by a neighbor affects all of us. And we were blessed that no one was injured in the fire.
