ST. GEORGE – Mesquite Police S.W.A.T. officers executed search warrants a local residence in conjunction with arrests made by detectives from Mesquite, Nev. and agents from the Drug Enforcement Agency Friday morning.
According to a statement issued by the Mesquite Police Department, a 28-year-old man, 26-year-old man, and 22-year-old woman, all from Mesquite, were arrested in St. George, Utah, on federal drug charges by the DEA. The arrests resulted from a several-months-long federal investigation by the DEA and Mesquite Drug Unit for high level trafficking of methamphetamine.
Mesquite detectives recovered guns, narcotics, and U.S. currency upon executing search warrants on the residences of both the 28 and 26-year-old men.
In Mesquite, a 48-year-old woman, 25-year-old woman, 22-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were also arrested and are currently facing state charges and possibly federal charges at a later date.
A total of 778.2 grams of Methamphetamine was seized during the investigation, the police statement stated, with an estimated street value of over $77,000.
“The Mesquite Police Department is committed to keeping drugs and the violence associated with them off our streets,” Mesquite Police Chief Troy Tanner said. “We will continue our efforts in working diligently with state and federal agencies to honor that commitment.”
