ENTERPRISE – A fundraiser will be held April 13 to benefit the Humphries family, struggling to cope emotionally and financially since the sudden death of a young father and husband.
On Feb. 26, 2013, the lives of the Humphries family were changed forever when Jason Humphries was killed in a work-related accident in Beaver at the age of 24. He left behind his wife, Lacy Humphries, their two young daughters and a third child on the way. Not having prepared for such a terrible incident, they are now crippled financially and depending on relatives to afford day-to-day necessities.
“His death has been devastating to his family,” family friend Diana Gardner Clark said. “Not only is (Lacy) dealing with the grief of losing the love of her life, she is also struggling to survive financially.”
Relatives, friends and community members have organized two fundraising efforts in hopes of easing the burden on Lacy Humphries and her children. A yard and bake sale will be held April 13 from 8 a.m. to noon at Carter’s Market, followed by a dinner and auction from 6 to 8 p.m. at Enterprise High School. The following items, some of which are valued upwards of $1,000, have been donated for the auction:

“We are hoping that people will be generous in their donations and that they will take the opportunity to help someone in need,” Clark said. “Jason was an amazing person. He treated everyone with kindness and respect and his family deserves the same.”
