SALT LAKE CITY – Investigators with the Federal Bureau of Investigation have linked the man who robbed the Mountain America Credit Union in Cedar City on Feb. 26 with four other bank robberies in Idaho.
According to a statement from the FBI, along with the credit union in Cedar City, three banks in Boise, Idaho, and one bank in Garden City, Idaho, were robbed between Dec. 21, 2012 and March 6, 2013.
The robbery at Mountain America Credit Union occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 26, causing a nearby elementary school to be put into lockdown until about 3:30 p.m. The serial bank robber gave a bank teller a note demanding money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and left the bank.
In other instances the man has made verbal demands, yet has never been reported to carry a weapon.
Witnesses to the bank robberies have generally described him as a white male, approximately 50-60 years old with grey hair. Some witnesses have described him as 5 feet 9-1o inches tall and weighing 145-180 pounds.
His clothing description has varied, but he has been seen in: blue jeans; gray, green, and navy blue jackets; white sneakers; glasses; a green ball cap; and carrying a red bag. He was seen wearing what is believed to be a fake beard during a robbery in Boise, Idaho, on March 6.
Anyone who believes they may know the identity of this bank robber is asked to contact the FBI Salt Lake City Division at 801-579-1400. The public is reminded not to approach the individual and to contact law enforcement with information.
