CEDER CITY – The shooting that took place in Cedar City Friday afternoon that left one man dead claimed a second victim Tuesday.
The Cedar City Police said Diann Bailey, 59, died Tuesday as a result of injuries resulting from a gunshot wound. Jeffery Lane Hardy, 52, was the first victim killed in the shooting that took place at 386 N. 400 West in Cedar City on Friday before 2 p.m.
After arriving at the scene police encountered 54-year-old Thad Robertson outside of the home where the shooting took place. He told police someone inside had been shot and another had a handgun.
Police entered the home soon after and discovered a deceased Hardy and a seriously injured Baily. She was treated at the scene then airlifted to a hospital in Murray for care, ultimately succumbing to her injuries.
Police detained Robertson at the scene and later arrested and booked him into jail and drug possession and gun-related violations. He was originally considered a person of interest in the case, but has been named as a suspect in the homicide.
Ed. note: Persons arrested are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
