Registration opens for St. George running, cycling races; new Road Rage Duathlon

ST. GEORGE – St. George Races invites the public to participate in three fun upcoming events: The Road Rage Duathlon, Lake to Lake Team Relay and Spectrum 10K.

  • Road Rage Duathlon – Feb. 9

The Road Rage Duathlon is a new event, combining both cycling and running challenges. The sprint course will consist of a 1.5-mile run and 12-mile ride, while the Olympic course will consist of a 3-mile run, 24-mile ride and another 3-mile run. All will start at 8 a.m. on the fast, flat Southern Parkway on the Utah-Arizona border. Pre-registration is open until Feb. 2; late registration is open until Feb. 6.   • Lake to Lake Team Relay – March 2

This 50-mile team relay from Gunlock Reservoir to Sand Hollow Reservoir will take athletes through the dramatic landscapes of southern Utah’s trail systems and back routes. Teams can consist of up to five people, with each runner completing a minimum of two legs (roughly five miles each.) Ultra teams can consist of either two runners or a solo runner. The race will start at 8 a.m.; a banquet dinner and awards ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Pre-registration is open until Feb. 22; late registration is open until Feb. 27.   • Spectrum 10K – March 16

This scenic 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) run through Snow Canyon State Park starts at 9 a.m. and finishes at the Ivins City Park. Athletes can feast their eyes on both wilderness and neighborhood landscapes. Pre-registration is open until March 8; late registration is open until March 13. The Tuff Kids Criterium Bike Race for children 12 and under will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the former St. George airport. Registration closed Thursday but the public is still welcome to attend and watch.
