Winter advisory for Southern Utah

SOUTHERN UTAH – The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow which is in effect from midnight tonight to 5 a.m. MST Wednesday. (The winter storm “watch” is no longer in effect.)

Affected area: The central and southern Utah mountains.

Snow accumulations: Storm totals of 10 to 20 inches are expected.

Timing: Snow will develop from the north late tonight and spread south during the day Tuesday. The snow will taper off from the north Tuesday evening.

Impacts: Winter weather conditions will make travel difficult at times late tonight through Tuesday night. All area roadways will be impacted, including Interstate 70 across central Utah.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

A winter storm warning means significant accumulations of snow are expected or occurring. Driving conditions may be hazardous. Use caution. Keep a winter storm survival kit in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
