Gingerbread house tour and Christmas celebration benefit Children of Hope Academy

ST. GEORGE – Start celebrating the holiday season this Saturday, with the first annual Gingerbread House Tour sponsored by McArthur Jewelers.

From Saturday through Dec. 8, participating businesses throughout downtown St. George will showcase uniquely crafted gingerbread houses. After viewing each, cast a vote for your favorite with a ballot available at all the stores. You can vote once a day but as many times as possible; with each vote, you will be entered to win a $50 gift card to one of the businesses. Voting is open until 8 p.m. on Dec. 8. The creator of the winning house will be awarded a prize valued at $300.

Christmas is about giving to those you love and those who need a helping hand. McArthur Jewelers has partnered with the Children of Hope Academy, which helps mentally challenged individuals reach their full potential. Each of the gingerbread houses in the competition will be auctioned, with every penny of the proceeds going to the Children of Hope Academy. Each business that sponsored a house will also include exciting products and services to be auctioned; McArthur Jewelers will include a diamond necklace valued at $1,100.

On Dec. 8 from 4 to 9 p.m., join the Historic Downtown St. George Christmas Celebration and enjoy refreshments, entertainment from carolers and Santa, and participate in the silent auction. The winning house will be announced and the recipient of the $50 gift card will be drawn.

To find out where each house on the tour is located, download a map online or pick one up at McArthur Jewelers at 41 North Main Street. The following businesses are participating: Painted Pony, George’s Corner Restaurant, Dr. Moms Herb Shop, Lunatic Fringe, 25 Main, Sunset Framer & Gallery, Wide Angle Photography, McArthur Jewelers, Main Street Antiques, Learning Express, Riggatti’s, The Hope Chest, Downtown Yoga, Re/Max Reality.
