UPDATED: Male driver airlifted after single-vehicle accident on I-15

UPDATED Nov. 18: UHP Trooper Cameron Roden said that the male driver, whose name has not been released, is expected to make a full recovery. The accident is currently being investigated as a DUI.

PINTURA – A single-vehicle accident on Interstate-15 at mile marker 31 around 7:45 a.m. today left the driver seriously injured.

A Saturn Vue traveling northbound lost control and swerved off the road. The vehicle hit the crash cushion and rolled over, coming to rest on its side. The driver, a 24-year-old male from Mona, was ejected and sustained serious injuries. He was transported by medical helicopter to Las Vegas.

Trooper Cameron Roden, public information officer for the Utah Highway Patrol, said that it is suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The UHP will continue to investigate possible impaired driving.

The northbound lanes were cleared shortly after the incident.
