ST. GEORGE – A single vehicle accident on State Route-18 Wednesday morning resulted in the female driver being airlifted.
At approximately 8:46 a.m. on Wednesday, the woman was traveling southbound on SR-18 and failed to safely navigate a curve near milepost 35. Her vehicle, a Toyota Camry, drove off the opposite shoulder and struck an embankment, rolling over. She was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. She was transported from the scene by medical helicopter to Las Vegas.
The woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Cpl. Todd Johnson, public information officer for the Utah Highway Patrol, said that she was not wearing a seat belt and that speeding and alcohol use are being investigated as possible contributors to the crash. No arrests or citations have been issued at this time.
