ST. GEORGE – A traffic accident involving five vehicles sent three people to the hospital this afternoon.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of 700 South and River Road in St. George. A black Ford SUV traveling southbound on River Road ran the red light, colliding with a vehicle traveling westbound. That vehicle then spun into another traveling westbound, which collided with two vehicles traveling eastbound.
“It had sort of a domino effect,” said Sergeant Albert Gilman, Emergency Management Liaison for the City of St. George.
Three people were transported to the hospital, but no serious or fatal injuries were reported.
The driver of the Ford is believed to have been suffering from a medical issue, Gilman said, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle.
“The full details are still being worked out,” Gilman said.
