“A Taste of Dixie” brings food, art together at Town Square

ST. GEORGE – On Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13, the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting their 2nd Annual “A Taste of Dixie” at St. George Town Square, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  This community festival is free and open to the public.

The community friendly event, held in an accessible and open location, is not only geared for the literal tastes of Dixie (food), but includes everything Dixie and Southern Utah has to offer, from local artists to small and large businesses alike.

Live entertainment provided by Platinum Mortgage and Performance Audio will also be available featuring bluegrass, oldies, jazz and Polynesian performers, and much more.

A children’s play area, sponsored by Mountain America Credit Union and Kolob Care and Rehabilitation, will provide free activities for kids comprising of a bounce house, obstacle course, and free memorable pictures provided by Yellowpix.com.

The Carousel housed on the property will also be free of charge for those attending the event.  Chamber Executive Director Gregg McArthur said: “This is a great way for the community to help support their local business in a fun outdoor venue.  It’s a centrally-located place to find local vendors and a great place for consumers and area residents to get to know a good number of local businesses.”

A new feature of the event, “Local Bites,” will provide an avenue and opportunity for residents to taste signature dishes from six local chefs.  This ticketed event will include chefs from the following:  Cappeletti’s, Xetava Gardens Café, Riverwalk Grill at SunRiver, Benja Thai & Sushi, Dixie Regional Medical Center, and Red Mountain Resort.

Held in partnership with the City of St. George and sponsored by ERA Brokers Consolidated and the Washington County School District Foundation, this family friendly festival has something for everyone.

McArthur added, “Come experience a Taste of Dixie’s hospitality for yourself.”
