HURRICANE — Brian Scott helped deliver a state championship to Hurricane. Now the community is trying to give something back.

Last year’s 3A football MVP and three-time wrestling state champion was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) last week and is undergoing intense chemotherapy in Salt Lake City’s Primary Children’s Medical Center. The 19-year old found out about the cancer as he was preparing for his LDS mission. He had already received his mission call to Uruguay.

A hot dog and hamburger meal will be served at the Tigers Stadium at 5 p.m. and patrons are encouraged to donate whatever they can to pay for the meal. All proceeds will go to the Scott family.

Dubbed “Burgers for Brian,” the event will last about 90 minutes leading up to the pivotal Region 9 football game, which starts at 7 p.m.
