ST. GEORGE - The first event of its kind in the area, Fall Fuel Fest on Saturday promises an action-packed day of races, stunts and everything else a “gear-head” could ask for.
Fall Fuel Fest was created by H&S Performance and the SGMX St. George Motocross Park. Numerous local businesses have also contributed to making it a national-scale event, with professional riders and drivers coming from across the country to compete.
The day will start off with the Nitro GP motorcycle race, in which beginning, intermediate and professional riders battle for their share of $100,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. With obstacles such as “Death Hill,” “The Matrix” and “Mud Pit,” the course is touted as one of the most challenging ever built. A race will also be held featuring utility task vehicles (sometimes called side-by-sides), with prizes given for best crash, biggest jump, wildest driver and best-looking rig.
Some of the most powerful diesel trucks in the country can be seen during the sled pull, where drivers must navigate a muddy course while dragging an enormous amount of weight. Owners of everyday trucks are invited to take part in the Dyno competition and learn how much horsepower their vehicle puts out.
For many, the highlight of the day will be a live show by action sports collective Nitro Circus. Led by multiple-time X Games champion Travis Pastrana, the crew will perform the daring motorcycle stunts that have earned them worldwide fame and shows on Fuel TV and MTV. This is their first appearance in St. George.
The gates open at 7 a.m. and spectators are encouraged to bring chairs, as seating will be limited. For information on tickets and event times, visit the Fall Fuel Fest website.
