GAME PREVIEW CAPSULE
Pine View (2-1) at Dixie (3-0)
Previous Meeting – Dixie 35, Pine View 33 (Sept. 9, 2011 at PV)

PANTHERS
Classification: 3A, Region 9
Coach: Ray Hosner (12th year, 96-34 overall)
Offense: I-back and spread
Last week: Beat Uintah 54-7
Players to watch: QB Dylan Draper was surprised to find out after last week’s game that he had four touchdown passes in the first half against Uintah. But with RB Prentiss Miller tearing it up rushing the ball, Draper and favorite target WR Cason Prisbrey should continue to see some open passing lanes.
PPG: 26.0
PAPG: 21.0
Trend: The Panthers had an easy one last week after a big loss and a tough win to start the season. Now things get serious. It appears Pine View is going to ride Miller as far as he’ll take them. And with Draper throwing the ball well, all of the sudden Pine View has become a very dangerous and explosive team.

FLYERS
Classification: 3A, Region 9
Coach: Blaine Monkres (23rd year, 159-86 overall)
Offense: Spread
Last week: Beat Provo 55-14
Players to watch: People assume that Dixie is a passing team. It’s true that QB Blake Barney can toss it around the yard, but Dixie rushed for more than 250 yards last week. The tough thing for opponents is that it’s not just one guy doing it, but several. RBs Joseph Takau and Tanner Webster, Barney and slot-man Drew Batchelor all run the ball effectively.
PPG: 43.0
PAPG: 10.0
Trend: Starting the game by giving up a kickoff return against Provo for six points made Monkres mad. But the rest of the night made the veteran coach happy. Dixie is just starting to hit its stride and offensively, the Flyers look like the best team in the region. Dixie has big-play threats all over the field.

GAME OUTLOOK
:
Most times you get an inkling about a game and which team is hotter. Dixie fans will point to the Flyers 3-0 record as evidence of heat, but who has Dixie really played? Certainly not anyone as physical as Pine View. Then again, Pine View played a physical East team and got boat-raced. Last year it was 35-33 and we’d be shocked if this year’s score wasn’t somewhere near that number as well. Should be a great game, especially if you love offense, and who doesn’t really?

STGnews PREDICTION
