HURRICANE – A man was transported to Las Vegas via Life Flight after a motorcycle accident Friday.

Utah Highway Patrol spokeswoman Susan Thomas said that between noon and 12:30 p.m., a 49-year-old man was driving westbound on state Route 9 towards the on-ramp onto Interstate 15. The rider lost control of his motorcycle while making a right turn on the on-ramp and crashed.

Emergency units responded to the scene and the on-ramp for Exit 16 to Hurricane was temporarily closed.

Thomas said the paramedics on scene had initially reported the rider had sustained minor cuts and abrasions from the crash. However, a Life Flight helicopter was also called to the scene, which transported the rider to Las Vegas.

Exit 16 reopened soon after.
