ST. GEORGE – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is gearing up to host their annual Citizens Academy. The Citizens Academy will be held Thursday evenings from Sep. 6 through Oct. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. each night. Sheriff Pulsipher and his administration will kick off the first evening with a warm welcome.
The Citizens Academy is an opportunity for members of the community to get a firsthand look at the sheriff’s office day-to-day operations. Some of the areas to be covered will be emergency services, search and rescue, investigations, SWAT, crisis negotiations, a jail tour, firearms, patrol, county attorney’s office, courts, drug court and much, much more.
Applications can be found on the sheriff’s office website, specifically under Programs and Services link. The Citizens Academy has space for 40 qualified applicants. Please read the application to confirm that you qualify for the program. Members of the Citizens Academy will be encouraged to go out on a ride-a-long with one of the sheriff’s deputies.
