Former Utah Jazz head coach and Hall of Famer Jerry Sloan will not be the next head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats. Sloan was a finalist for the job, but pulled his name out Thursday evening.

Sloan was a finalist along with the Pacers assistant Brian Shaw and Lakers assistant Quin Snyder. Neither of them have head coaching experience in the NBA. Snyder coached in the NBDL and was a head coach in college at Missouri. Shaw has only been an assistant, but is rumored to be the front-runner for the Bobcats.

The former Jazz coach of 19 years said that he has not been contacted by Portland or Orlando, which are both looking for a new head coach.

Sloan said if another owner called he would listen and would love to return to the sidelines.

Sloan has been out of coaching since the middle of the 2010-2011 season, but gave no reason for withdrawing his name from consideration.
