ST. GEORGE – Three Region 9 softball players made the all tournament team for the 3A state softball tournament. They are Brytni Gurney from Snow Canyon, Jessica Nakken from Cedar, and Josie Platt from Canyon View.

Platt started the 3A state tournament off with a win over Uintah and then hit two homeruns against Juab while she pitched again for another win. Platt finished the 3A state tournament 2-0 with two homeruns.

Nakken led the Cedar in hits and also powered in two homeruns in the state tournament. Nakken also made play after play in the field.

And Gurney started off the 3A state tournament by taking on the No. 1 seed Wasatch out of Region 10 on the road. Gurney not only got the win as the starting pitcher but also hit a double and a homerun.

In the second round Gurney shutout Grantsville, leading the Warriors to a 10-0 win. Gurney also hit two doubles in the game.

Gurney went 3-0 in the tournament after knocking off Region 9 foe Cedar 9-3 in the quarterfinals. Gurney suffered her first and only loss of the state tournament in the loss to Bear River.

Great job girls!
