Rain postpones softball state championship

SALT LAKE – The Snow Canyon Lady Warriors, Cedar Lady Reds and the rest of the teams still alive in the 3A state softball tournament had their games postponed yesterday due to rain.

Winners bracket games were pushed from yesterday to today and the two consolation bracket games were moved from morning to later in the day setting up a very busy Saturday. The 3A state softball championship game was moved from Saturday afternoon to Monday at 2 p.m.

Once the consolation bracket games started another Region 9 team was bounced from the tournament as Canyon View lost to Wasatch 10-7. At 12:15 today, Wasatch will play the loser of the Lady Warriors vs. Lady Reds game .

The Lady Warriors vs. the Lady Reds play at 10 a.m. at the Valley Complex in the Salt Lake City area. The winner will move on to play the winner of the Spanish Fork vs. Bear River game.

On the other half of the consolation bracket, Stansbury awaits the loser of the winners bracket game between Spanish Fork and Bear River. Stansbury advanced to the consolation semifinals by beating Uintah yesterday 14-2.

Saturday GAME TIMES

(game 21) 10 a.m. Snow Canyon vs. Cedar (winners bracket)

(game 22) 10 a.m. Spanish Fork vs. Bear River (winners bracket)

(game 25) 12:15 p.m. loser of game 21 vs Wasatch (consolation bracket)

(game 26) 12:15 p.m. loser of game 22 vs Stansbury (consolation bracket)

(game 27) 2:30 p.m. winner of game 21 vs. winner of game 22 (winners bracket)

(game 28) 2:30 p.m. winner of game 25 vs. winner of game 26 (consolation bracket)

(game 29) 2:30 p.m. loser of game 27 vs. winner of game 28 (consolation bracket)

The winner of game 29 will advance to play the winner of game 27 in the state championship game on Monday at 2 p.m.
