TOQUERVILLE – The Toquerville fire was 100 percent contained Thursday night.
According to a press release from Nick Howell, the Toquerville fire information officer, the fire was contained by 7 p.m. and stands at 248 acres.
The fire began on Monday, May 1, around 11 a.m., and was triggered by people burning debris. Though isolated hotspots remain, fire behavior overall is minimal. Fire crews are expected to suppress the hotspots with little trouble.
Barring any significant changes, Howell said he anticipated no further updates as crews extinguish what remains of the fire.
