Anderson leads Thunder to final 4

ST. GEORGE – The No. 1 ranked Desert Hills Thunder used a 16-8 third quarter run to beat Ben Lomond 55-41 this morning at the Burns Arena at the Dixie State College campus. With the win, the Thunder advance to the final four Friday night at the arena.

The Thunder showed once again why they are considered the favorites using a total team effort. On a morning when leading scorers Tyler Ott and Brandon Simister were held to a combined eight points, (both average over 12 points per game), most teams would have crumbled.

Not the Thunder, they powered on led by Josh Anderson, who scored a career high 17 points. Jace Wade added 11 points and Ty Rutledge continued his great play with eight points.

The game was close throughout the first half with the Thunder leading by 1 after the first quarter.

Ben Lomond worked their game plan to near perfection in the first half, pounding the ball inside and getting the Thunder in foul trouble.

The Thunder broke the game open in the third, led by Anderson who scored more points in the third quarter  – 10 – than his season average of six points per game.

The Thunder take on the winner of the Dixie vs. Delta game at 7:30 Friday night.
