ST. GEORGE – Riverside Drive will be closed from Jan. 25 to 26 for construction.

Marc Mortensen, the support services manager for St. George, said city water services will be instilling a new water line for Cox Park.

“The ditch is going to be pretty big,” Mortensen said, “So we determined it would be safer to close the road.”

Construction crews will also be installing a large secondary water line from Riverside Drive toward Convention Center Drive.

A short section of Riverside Drive from 800 East through 1000 East will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. The roadway will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 26, at 5 p.m.

Heritage Elementary, all businesses and residential access will remain open throughout the closure. Access to Morningside Drive and 1100 East will remain open.

Through traffic access on Riverside Drive will be closed. Through traffic should use the following designated detour routes:

  • Eastbound access from Bluff Street should use 400 East through 900 South.
  • Westbound access from River Road should use 900 South to 400 East.
