A transient man arrested for sex abuse of a child

WASHINGTON – A transient man was arrested in Washington for the alleged sex abuse of a child of Friday.

The 53-year-old male was arrested Friday, Dec. 23, after being interviewed by Washington City Department of Public Safety detectives.  The suspect was charged with one count of sexual abuse of a child and booked into the Washington County Jail.

The man had no known local address and had no special relationship to the victim. There are currently no other known victims.

Under the Utah criminal code, the victim involved in the incident is categorized as being a child under the age of 14.

He was arrested for an incident that occurred in Washington City on Dec. 20.
