IVINS – The Ivins Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, 474 N. 200 W., hosts a pet adopt-a-thon this Saturday, Dec. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The adopt-a-thon will also include a pet caroling walk where participants make a $5 donation to walk his or her own pet or a pet from the shelter around Ivins to help spread the Christmas spirit.

The event is supported by the Friends of Ivins Animal Shelter, who has held activates throughout the month to help the animals of the shelter get adopted or fostered into loving homes.

Residents can also get involved by sponsoring a pet in the shelter. Sponsoring a pet includes providing funds that will pay for any medical procedures and food that the animal might need.

The adopt-a-thon event has been titled “A Forever Home for Christmas”.

“[We hope] at the adopt-a-thon we get as many pets adopted as possible,” said Linda Elwell, the president of Friends of Ivins Animal Shelter. “We would like to have an empty shelter for Christmas morning.”

The shelter currently has at least 50 cats and several dogs including many ‘less adoptable pets’ for residents to take home and love as their own. To find more information about these pets visit petfinder.com.
