Springdale Man Charged With Sexual Exploitation of La Verkin Girl

ST. GEORGE – A Springdale man was sentenced for the sexual exploitation of a 14-year-old girl.

Keith Lane Peterson of Springdale, 19, pled guilty to charges of the sexual exploitation of a then 14-year-old girl La Verkin in August, and was subsequently sentenced on Oct. 19. The victim is now 15 years old.

Prosecuting county attorney Ryan Shaum said Peterson was sentenced to a term of supervised probation which included 150 days in jail. Peterson will also be required to earn his GED, avoid individuals involved in drugs and alcohol, and attend drug rehab counseling.

Shaum did not specify the length of the probationary period.

Peterson was arrested in July on two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of dealing harmful materials to a minor and one count of sodomy of a 14-year-old. (See previous story here)

Shaum added that the additional charges were most likely committed while Peterson was still a minor himself, and would have been relegated to the juvenile court system.
