St. George man arrested in Washington City home burglaries

WASHINGTON CITY – Officers with Washington City Public Safety arrested a St. George man that is accused of allegedly burglarizing three homes in Washington.

The 18-year-old man who arrested Friday for one felony count of burglary of a dwelling, one felony count of theft of a firearm and a misdemeanor count of extortion.

Ed Kantor, law enforcement division chief for Washington City Public Safety, said the man was “booked for involvement” in three separate residential burglaries. One of the thefts occurred in Washington Fields on Sept. 25, the other two on Oct. 8 in Green Springs and one close to Exit 13.

Kantor said the man was being interviewed another police agency and admitted to involvement in these incidents.

“Our detective followed up and linked him to the burglaries in Washington City,” he said.

The man remains in Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility on $20,555 bond.

* Persons accused are presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
